The Impact of Plastic Waste on the Indonesian Economy
This is a Response to the Bagaimana cara kamu mengurangi sampah plastik untuk kelestarian bumi kita? wikithon
Indonesian people have a dependence on the use of plastic in their daily lives. This is because plastic is very practical and cost-effective. However, this is actually a problem for Indonesia, both from environmental, cultural, economic, geographical, and educational factors. The excessive use of plastic causes the environment in almost all regions in Indonesia to become dirty and polluted, this happens because people normalize the habit of littering. Polluted environments also have an impact on geographical factors, such as natural disasters such as floods, landslides due to piles of garbage, and damage to infrastructure. Plastic waste is a waste that is difficult to decompose compared to organic waste and B3, therefore plastic waste management needs to be reaffirmed. Looking at the rampant use of plastic today, we can conclude that plastic also supports the country's economy. Many of our people work as workers in plastic factories, and plastic consumption in buying and selling activities. Therefore, the government also cannot directly prohibit the use and production of plastic to the public. Instead of prohibiting it, the government should support the management and processing of plastic waste evenly in Indonesia. To be able to manage and process plastic waste effectively and efficiently, the government needs to support education about plastic waste management to the community by utilizing technology, especially for the younger generation. The young generation is the generation that will continue the movement of the Indonesian nation. Therefore, the government needs to provide maximum support to the younger generation, especially in waste management and processing. The processing of plastic waste that we often encounter is processing plastic into decorations, bags, and accessories. However, if you only use plastic waste with diverse patterns and crowded colors, it does not meet fashion aesthetics. It is impossible for someone to use a bag woven from plastic waste to an event. This proves that the processing does not produce efficient utilization, so it is less in demand. We can process plastic waste into more useful things such as fuel oil. However, to process plastic waste into fuel oil requires a complex process so it takes time, money, and requires a lot of human resources. There is an opportunity to effectively process plastic waste that affects the country's economy. By introducing the management and processing of plastic waste evenly to all regions in Indonesia, it will create creative new ideas, especially from the younger generation. This can increase the competitiveness of plastic waste processing results into more useful things. That way, human resources are urgently needed, so that opening new jobs becomes more lot. Thus, the production of plastic waste will not harm the environment, because it can be reproduced in a more effective and efficient way and result. To achieve this goal, public awareness is needed to start from oneself. Such as getting used to throwing garbage in its place, sorting and choosing types of waste, and being willing to be consistent in learning new things. The government must also support the community evenly and maximally, so that not only in urban areas it looks clean, but also in suburban areas. So that it can create a clean, beautiful, and environmentally friendly Indonesia.
