"Life Standards: Between Reality and Content, Minds Rot Amid Digital Validation"
This is a Response to the Brain Rot wikithon
In this digital era, everyday life is increasingly tied to the standards set by content creators. Trends, lifestyles, and even small habits seem to have to follow whatever is viral on social media. Creators are no longer just sources of inspiration; they have become "judges" who determine what is considered cool, worthy, or a "failure."
Meanwhile, netizens act like devoted followers, striving to meet these standards, even to the point of criticizing each other. If someone doesn’t fit the ongoing trend, they are quickly labeled as "not trying hard enough," "outdated," or even a "failure in life." However, real life cannot be equated with carefully curated and polished social media highlights.
Even worse, consuming meaningless content gradually rots the mind. Time that could be used for critical thinking and self-improvement is instead wasted on swallowing empty social standards with no real foundation. Instead of seeking knowledge or developing a healthy mindset, many people fall into a cycle of shallow content that only provides momentary entertainment but damages long-term thinking.
Amid this phenomenon, we must ask ourselves: do we still have control over our own lives, or are we merely living for digital validation?
