Implementation for Reduce plastic waste Issue.

This Implementation emerged from Bagaimana cara kamu mengurangi sampah plastik untuk kelestarian bumi kita? wikithon.

Summary

Through the Public Participation Wikithon organized by BASAkalimantan Wiki (BkW), the youth of South Kalimantan (aged 16–30) demonstrated a profound understanding of plastic waste mitigation—from its dangers to the environment and humans, the application of the 5R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Replace, Replant), to efforts toward a zero-waste lifestyle. This initiative sparked tangible actions, including the "One Hand One Tumbler" movement pioneered by a student of SMAN 1 Mekarsari (@muhammad293911). Supported by the school through distributing tumblers to all students, the movement successfully reduced bottled water usage in the school environment and inspired peers to become agents of change.

Multiparty collaboration was strengthened through two dialogue sessions, connecting Wikithon winners, government agencies, educational institutions, communities, and media. This resulted in actionable recommendations, including the establishment of the Jolali Waste Bank by Rumah Limbah Bonkla Borneo in Banjarbaru (November 2024). The waste bank not only accepts waste savings but also waste donations, operating under the motto:

“Saving waste, protecting the environment while generating income.”
