Using Digital Media Wisely: Preventing Negative Effects on the Younger Generation
This is a Response to the Brain Rot wikithon
To reduce the negative effects of digital media that can cause “brain rot” in young people, it is important to use it wisely. One way to do this is by choosing high-quality content, such as educational, creative, or inspirational materials, while avoiding misleading or unproductive information. Additionally, setting time limits for gadget use is crucial, for example, by using screen time features or reminders to prevent addiction. Young people should also be taught digital literacy so they can think critically about the information they consume and be aware of the dangers of social media addiction and its psychological effects. On the other hand, it is also important to encourage them to engage in real-world activities, such as socializing with family and friends or pursuing hobbies like sports, reading books, or engaging in the arts. Parents and teachers should also set a good example in using digital devices, such as limiting their usage during meals or before bedtime. By following these steps, young people can enjoy the benefits of technology without falling into its negative impacts.
