Strategies to Reduce the Negative Impact of Digital Media
• Limit Digital Media Usage Time
Applying a clear time limit for the use of digital media is an important first step.
• Apply "Technology Free Zone"
Determine a certain area in the house (for example the dining room) and a certain time (for example during a meal with the family) as a "technology-free zone". This approach helps create balance and promote meaningful social interaction.
• Encourage Physical Activity and Outdoor Time
Physical activity and time in the open air are very important for healthy brain development. This activity not only reduces the time spent with digital media, but also promotes motor development, improves mood, and reduces stress.
• Provide Education about Digital Literacy
Teaching children and teens to be critical of digital content, understanding digital marketing strategies, and recognizing the signs of manipulation can help them become more intelligent and responsible digital consumers.
• Be an Example in the Use of Digital Media
Parents and educators must show healthy digital habits. This includes turning off the device during social interaction, not using the phone while eating, and showing that activities outside of digital media are also valuable and fun.- Affiliation
