The internet plays a crucial role for individuals, organizations, and even countries around the world. However, excessive internet use can also have a negative impact, especially on brain health.
Excessive consumption of online content is increasingly prevalent among young people in Generation Z and Alpha today. This results in the phenomenon of "brain rot". This term refers to a decline in cognitive function, and a decrease in intellectual intelligence. Constant exposure to instant and addictive content can hinder brain development. Consuming too much information seems like give a tsunami of information to the brain which results is decrease in intellectual capacity. Some examples of the brain rot phenomenon that occurs in daily life such as difficulty focusing when reading a book or a long article Easily influenced by social media trends Anxiety when not accessing the internet Difficulty interacting in the real world One effective way to overcome the "brain rot" is by journaling. Journaling is a form of self-reflection that is poured into writing, journaling aims to help individuals understand themselves, manage emotions, and develop creativity and mindset. The benefits of journaling include: Increases emotional intelligence Increases awareness and confidence Boosts creativity Practice critical thinking Train memory By getting used to practicing these things, you will overcome the brain rot phenomenon. Because of self-awareness and emotional intelligence towards the limitations of internet use and management, especially social media.
