**Brain Rot**

or the decay of the brain caused by exposure to low-quality content that floods social media, is an effect of ignorance. Brain rot is not a medical condition or a brain disease. It is a type of cognitive dysfunction that involves memory problems, lack of mental clarity, poor concentration, and an inability to focus.

    • Causes of Brain Rot**

Do you know why brain rot occurs? Exposure to social media and constantly divided attention due to an overwhelming amount of information—without awareness of content quality—often causes the brain to drown in shallow and impulsive imagination. Life in the virtual world also encourages teenagers to fantasize about an ideal life, which triggers brain rot.

    • Prevention and Management**

Brain rot can be prevented through methods that address addiction. **How?**

1. **Fulfill basic individual needs first**, such as friends, entertainment, a partner, and food. When these basic conditions are met, living beings tend to avoid harmful actions, including addiction. 2. However, do not forget: friends, entertainment, and partners must also have commitment and support to help individuals break free from the grip of brain rot.

    • The second way** to prevent brain rot is to minimize stimulation from phone use. This can be done by:

1. Deleting unnecessary apps and triggers of brain rot. 2. Setting time limits for phone usage. 3. Getting enough sleep. Staying up late can be an initial trigger for brain rot, as lack of sleep weakens and exhausts the brain. 4. Keeping busy with positive activities, such as exercising, reading books, and other productive tasks.

5. Building mental strength. Without strong mental fortitude, any effort will be in vain. Stay consistent and committed to your goals.
