Amidst the rapid flow of information in the digital era, the term brain rot is present as a sharp mirror of the condition of modern society. The term brain rot is simply defined as a condition in which the brain becomes dull due to continuous exposure to content without adequate value.
Uniquely, this term was mentioned in 1854 in Henry David Thoreau's book Walden, this term was used to criticize how society values shallow ideas more than complex thinking, which apparently this term has deep roots. What Thoreau called "brain disease" is now manifested in a flood of viral content that is more entertaining than enlightening.
Ultimately, brain rot is more than just a viral word. It is a reflection of the paradox of our time: on the one hand, technology provides unlimited freedom; on the other hand, it creates an intellectual trap that makes us further from consciousness.- Affiliation
